How it works

Ten minutes a day is enough. The app decides what to show; you just practise.

Step 1

Start at A1, move up when you're ready

The words come from the New General Service List — the vocabulary behind about 90% of everyday English text. We grouped them into five levels: A1 (744 words), A2 (650), B1 (520), B2 (751) and C1 (144).

Choose how many new words to learn each day, from 5 to 30. The Learn screen shows your progress and one button to start.

Step 2

Meet each word three ways

Every word is practised in three modes, so you can recognise it, use it and spell it.

  • Translate the word — see the English word, recall its meaning in your language.
  • Fill in the blank — complete a real sentence. Stuck? A hint shows the sentence in your language.
  • Write what you hear — listen and type the word.
Fill in the blank: She ate ___ apple after lunch, with a hint in Polish
Write what you hear: a large speaker button and a text field
Step 3

Words come back right on time

After each answer you tell the app how it went: Again, Hard, Good or Easy. A modern scheduling algorithm (FSRS) uses that to pick the day each word returns — soon if it was hard, weeks later if it was easy.

The Words tab shows every word of the level and which modes you have already passed.

Step 4

A word is learned when it sticks

Knowing a word today is not the same as remembering it. A word counts as learned only when you have passed it in all three modes and its next review is at least a week away.

Step 5

Watch your progress grow

See how many words you have learned and how many are on the way, level by level. Keep a daily streak going, and turn on a reminder at the time that suits you.

With Premium, a 16-week activity map shows every day you practised.
